dbeazylife.com Insights and Plans

The idea behind the layout and design of my website is based on one concept. That it should be simple and easy to navigate.  Instead of a lot of flash, movement, and distraction, my hope is that the content ends up being the driving force.  Good content, after all, is what will keep you clicking on the icon to see if there has been new activity.

Now that the existence of the website has been announced to the world, I wanted to explain a few things, share some of my goals, and announce some of my plans for the future of dbeazylife.com.

First of all, I will say this.  Committing words generated from the mind, heart, and soul, to a permanent media exposes the writer to the world. That is an uncomfortable feeling.  I have to admit that I was very nervous before clicking on the “Publish” button for the first time.  Now that you have given me some much needed positive feedback, it is a little easier.  I know that some of my thoughts will be better received than others. I also want to say that the simultaneous announcement of dbeazy and the post The Only Chiefs Fan I Ever Knew were completely coincidental, could not have been better received. I want to thank the Mitchell Family for giving me the ok to write the story. Remembering Chunk and sharing his story brought both smiles and tears alike.

The idea for the logo goes back about 15 years.  It is a digital copy of a tattoo.  A professional artist by the name of Hannah Ritter did an awesome job of reproducing and digitizing it.  You will be seeing more of her work on the site.  In case anyone is interested, my opinion of tattoos is they are fine, provided there is some thought put into the design, number, and location and placement thereof.  I also feel that getting a tattoo should be very personal; it should mean something to the person getting the tatt. In my case, the B is depicted in stone, which is synonymous with the meaning of the Bracey name, as well as strength and durability, with a red “tribal” symbol which in my mind, symbolizes family, unity, and is open on the top and on the bottom, which means absolutely nothing.  By-the-way, if you find yourself in need of an artist, I will be glad to hook you up.

You may have noticed that I have included categories for the blog posts.  But instead of just normal everyday garden variety names, I decided to have some fun with it.  I will explain:

21 Dive – This is a name out of a football playbook. It is a running play with the fullback getting the ball from the quarterback and running straight ahead.  This play is quick, straight on, and designed for short yardage usually. So a post from this category will be short and to the point.

Cronies and Compeers – Will include posts about friends and acquaintances.

Eclecticism Squared – This might be a post from out in left field …….. Way out in left field.

For the Record – A more serious story that just kind of tells it like it is.

Scoots and Peregrination – This category would include stories about motorcycles, and the journey, not just motorcycle trips, but the journey through life.

Victuals, Libation, and Diversion – Finally, this category will include stories about food, beverage, and entertainment.

There are several ways of navigating the site as well, but there is one thing that I want to make you aware of.  Since many of you view the site on your phones, I will call your attention to the 3 horizontal lines underneath the title.  Clicking on the lines will take you to additional pages.  There are only 2 additional pages currently, but I will be using these more in the future.

Since the announcement of the dbeazylife.com, I have received many comments and a few questions.  I hope to keep a good supply of new material coming.  I also want to apologize in advance for any typos and grammatical errors.  I assure you that every effort is made to avoid this, but since this is a staff of one, occasionally, I’m sure that Microsoft, Grammarly, and I will miss something.  Don’t be too turned off by it.  Melissa provides editorial assistance whenever possible, but since she works nights, I do much of my writing while she isn’t here.

Finally, there are “larger scale” writing projects that I’ve been working on for a long time. Two are or will be, full-length novels, and another is a book of short stories.  I hope that at some point, these will be published, but I am considering releasing one of these in serial form right here on the site. We’ll just have to see how it goes.

Feel free to leave comments at any time, and remember, come back often.

Thanks so much!
